Training Reviews - Weeks 3 & 4

My big start to the year has continued with a significant block of everything.  The only thing I am not ahead on is the mountain bike. I have had to sacrifice riding time for repair time as I try to get it back in to a condition to ride. I did manage to get out on it this week, with no new mechanicals. But the dropper seat post is currently locked in place and I still need to fix that as soon as possible.  That leaves me slightly short on overall bike miles as well, but with my Grand Tour plans for later in the year, that will come back in a hurry as soon as the Giro d'Italia starts. I am probably overdoing everything at the minute though. As well as being in this fairly heavy block of training, I am still doing my daily language lessons, and in a streak of daily core/weights/yoga and have started a new University course that will last through until May. Alongside travelling every weekend, shopping for a new car (arrives Thursday), trying to get rid of my old car (no progress)...

Training Review - Weeks 1 & 2

As always, I have gone with a big start to the year. Despite being back at work by the 3rd I have managed to rack up good numbers on everything.  The only thing missing is the mountain bike, and that was down to a mechanical. I did something to the dropper post when packing it after Italy and it hasn't worked properly since then. It collapsed on my first attempt to ride it and I have removed it this weekend and done a bit of a mini-service to see if I can resurrect it rather than replace it but will see how that goes some time during the week.  Everything else has gone well.  The only blip is the Range Rover failing its MOT. It is almost certainly off to car heaven later this week and whatever I change to will have to be a size smaller.  Actuals, (T arget) -  Swim 6.1  miles / 16,750 m. (5.6 miles). Bike 85.8miles. (84.0 miles).   MTB 1.8 miles. (28.0 miles). Run 46.8  miles. (46.2  miles). 3 short core,  2   short light weights ...

Adventure Plans

Took a week to finalise what was on the list, and then I have crossed quite a few off already.

2024 Targets

This year I am not going to the World Championships as they are in Townsville, Australia. I do still have 3 European Championships in Coimbra, Portugal in June, all in the same week. I also have a bigger adventure plan for the year, that will follow this post, probably tomorrow as I haven't finished it yet, and which affects some of what is written in here.  --------------------- I am (as always) going to stick with setting mileage targets and then sort of ramble about other things I have planned in this year. Hopefully slightly less as I have broken out anything non-triathlon from this version into a whole separate adventure list. Some of the numbers are going to look funny as instead of rounding them I have set them to an average per week. The adventure post should make the reasons for that more clear.  Races  In summer I have the European Aquathlon, Cross Triathlon and Cross Duathlon in Coimbra, Portugal. Cramming three of them in to a week is not going to help my chan...
